All about Reece's Rainbow
Reece's Rainbow is a Christian service ministry which promotes the international adoption and rescue of orphans with Down syndrome exclusively. We currently have programs in 26 countries worldwide, with more than (300) children with Down syndrome and other special needs on our website waiting for their "forever families". In less than 5 years, we have found adoptive families for (400+) children with Down syndrome and other special needs around the world. We have disbursed more than $750,000 in adoption grants. Our primary goals are: 1) Provide adoption grants through donor sponsorship towards the cost of adopting children with Down syndrome, 2) Seek out potential adoptive families for orphans with Down syndrome, 3) Raise funds and awareness for our grant programs, 4) Change the perception of orphanage staff towards children with Down syndrome and other disabilities.Children with disabilities in Eastern European countries are treated much like they would have been in the 1950's here in the US. They are given up at birth and put into orphanages and then mental institutions. Some countries transfer the children to institutions as early as 4 yrs old and some will not allow adoptions after that time. It is critical that these children find homes and receive the love, affection, and medical attention that they need.
